If you have been following me for a while you will know that back in January 2017, our little family opened a Mixed Martial Arts gym within the Orlando Area. It has been quite an experience, but we are finding that this is definitely the path that our little family needed to go down. I haven’t posted any updates in a while, so here we are, lots of great things are happening! =)
Big John is working so hard to provide exciting classes to all of Forest City MMA Academy’s members. I have been with Big John since we were 14 years old and I have seriously never seen him work so hard and be so passionate about what he is doing. The exciting news is we are right on track of our projected goals for the month of March.
Don’t get me wrong, it’s pretty exhausting for our whole little family with running a small business (just last night I kind of had a bit of a melt down), but we know that this will benefit our family in many ways in the long run. Sometimes we don’t have a “family day” because right now it’s crucial to put a lot of time and energy into promoting the gym along with preparing for classes and teaching. The days that we do though, it’s very valuable time.
A typical day for Big John looks like going to the gym from 6am and not getting home until about 9:30pm. He also works on the weekends, but not as long of hours. As you can imagine, we are very tired, BUT we are going down the right path and success will pay out.
As for me…my days can be long with teaching, providing, and taking care of Johnny. From early morning wake ups to our bedtime routine it’s all me. It has been exhausting at times, but we are building a successful future ahead of us. I’ve learned to just take each day as it comes and provide a fun engaging schedule throughout the week to keep little Johnny and I going. I have a quote app on my phone and I love this one that showed up one day.
sidenote: I have to just gloat about my husband for a minute…not only is he running his own gym, but he also finds time to be a mentor to a student at a local elementary school, and volunteers at the Boys & Girls club (inset lovey eyes emoji)!
The good news is Little Johnny and I can visit Big John when we want and we also participate in the best class ever for moms & kids (Mommy & Me Kickboxing and Fitn
ess) I know I’m bias, but we love going and interacting with other moms & kids along with staying fit. (By the way, I’m back at my pre-pregnancy weight and I’m feeling better than ever! Yes, a round of appaulse is much appreciated!) 😉
It’s been amazing to see so many family & friends that have been supportive, even 1400 miles away! While we don’t have any family that live near us they still send their prayers, support & love. Thank you to everyone!
We still have many goals and accomplishments to achieve in the future (but really we’ll always have new goals to accomplish). This gym is a part of our family now and it’s something that is truly building a community for others. It’s a lifestyle that will continue to bring success for not just our family, but for others as well!
