This past weekend the Florida Morehouse family needed a day to chill out and recharge for the new week ahead. You know as a mom that your family needs a day like this when everyone is on edge and tired from the previous busy week. Plus your 9 month old son is off his schedule because his mama kept him too busy! It was just a much needed day OFF!
Everyone relaxes differently, some people like to lounge on the couch and binge watch shows, others like to stay active with their hobbies. There isn’t a right or wrong way to enjoy relaxation, it’s whatever makes you feel rejuvenated afterwords.
For me, I enjoy relaxation by just by being outside, either by sitting on a porch and reading a book or taking a walk. As for my husband he relaxes by fishing or lounging on the couch (typical guy!).
So... this past Sunday we decided to take a rest day and do just that for ourselves. Our son Johnny was just happy to stay home and have both mommy and daddy around. If you haven’t taken a rest day in a while for your family, you should definitely choose a day to do so. I know life is busy and it’s hard to accomplish that at times, BUT it’s sooooo good for the mind, body, and soul. EVERYONE needs a rest day (even busy moms).
Rejuvenated parents= for happier children
So… we had a slow, easy Sunday.
It was the best.
We started with a very early rising morning! (Johnny was just so excited to have a rest day, and apparently forgot about the whole meaning of rest. ) After baby tv, and play time I decided to make an easy homemade breakfast for Johnny and myself while Daddy enjoyed early morning fishing.
I made apple cinnamon pancakes for myself, and Johnny had a banana egg yolk pancake (Another mama friend shared this recipe with me, and Johnny loves it. Isn’t it the best when mamas share!?).
It took double the time to make anything because… well…I have a 9 month old child, I think that explains it! I have a “go to” bucket of weird things for him to explore. (babies love weird things, am I right!?) So that kept him busy just long enough for me to make his banana egg pancake.
Then it was off to dream land for him (well I made 2 attempts, and finally he was asleep). Then I made myself a well deserved stack full of pancakes! (and re-heated coffee, I believe I was on the 10th time of reheating…I lost count…)
Well, as it turned out all those activities took us up until about lunch time! (so I guess that was more of a brunch than a breakfast). The rest of the day followed with John enjoying play time with Johnny and running an errand with him, while I took my well deserved relaxation time. I relaxed outside with a yummy drink (we won’t say what kind...but it was that kind of yummy) ;), and finally starting my new book Luckiest Girl Alive. (If you enjoyed reading Gone Girl, then this a book for you!) Believe it or not, I was even able to fit a short nap in while the boys were out running an errand!
Side Note: I love watching these two play together. They both have such a goofy personality. My husband had this brilliant idea to put an aquarium on our tv! (Johnny was getting a little antsy, and this helped to switch his mood, along with daddy playing with him of course!) If you ever have “just one of those days” with your little one, try youtubing underwater scenes! Click here to view the video we watched.
We ended our day with a family walk to the Langford playground (over by Dickson Azalea Park), and had classic sloppy joes for dinner along with a pumpkin pie (nothing fancy, but very yummy).
Now it’s your turn, when will you have your next family rest day? Are you feeling the Sunday Vibes yet?
