What’s in a photo? There are so many unlimited choices of what you can capture in a photograph. Mostly photos are a captured moment of a small part of time in your life. These moments range with numerous amounts of feelings; joy, humor, lust, grief, gratitude, and the list goes on. Have you ever been in public and not seen at least one person taking a picture? Our society loves taking pictures. We want to always remember those moments and be able to look back at them, that’s the beauty of photography, you can freeze a moment and always look back at it.
A Special Moment Frozen.
Here’s the thing, you know how I mentioned that our society loves taking pictures, well sometimes we take so many (well at least I know I do) and let them sit on a memory card, which tends to be forgotten. I don’t know about you, but I am really bad at printing pictures (and I live 4 blocks away from a Walgreens! No Excuses!) So part of my challenge this week involves you taking a few mintues to sit down and print some photos.
If actually going to a store to pick up photos is an inconvenience and you just don’t have time, here are FREE apps where you can upload your photos and then have them shipped to you at a cost.
Postal Pix app (a little more on the expensive side)
Shutterfly (there are always coupons you can use)
Okay, enough with the rambling…here is this week’s challenge…
Capturing Life’s Gifts 5 Day Photo Challenge #fivedayphotochallenge
- Each day capture a moment that you cherished or that intrigued you
- Do this for 5 continuous days
- On the 5th day PRINT or ORDER all 5 pictures (this is the hard part)
- Then display them in your home for the following week to look back at all life’s gifts that you captured
This will help to remind you that each day there is something wonderful to capture in life (even on not so good days).
It forces you to find a natural gift in each day.
Here are some ways you can display them in your home:
- display all 5 photos on a wired string (you can make it your own or purchase one) Here are links to places you can purchase a wired picture holder: Etsy, Target, Amazon
- buy a photo frame and replace it each day with a different picture
- or simply just place it on your fridge with magnets (you can either replace the pictures each day or place all 5 out for the week)
Here is how I’ll display my photos in my home.
I currently have photos of our wedding and the birth of our son Johnny. Those are great to look at, but I want to be able to switch them out more, so I’m very excited to participate in this challenge. I started my 5 day photo challenge on Tuesday. Below is my first photo that I captured for this challenge. It’s not perfect (I snapped the picture while Johnny was moving), but it doesn’t have to be. The look of happiness on these two faces and how excited Johnny is to visit his daddy at work is priceless. I love this moment and I’m so glad I was able to capture it.
I hope you enjoy this challenge and find it possible to be included in your life. Enjoy all the captured gifts that life offers you. And, remember it doesn’t have to be forced. These are natural gifts that just come to you, you don’t have to go out hunting for them.
If you want to continue this for each week you can take the previous 5 photos and either put them in an album or a photo box. I hope to continue with this and make it a habit in my everyday life. Challenge is on my friends!
