Happiness is Chips and Guacamole! {Easy Peasy Guacamole Recipe}

Okay my friends, I know I can’t be the only one that truly finds so much joy in dunking my tortilla chip into a bowl of homemade guacamole…Any one else with me? I LOVE guacamole (and anything else with avocados) to the point where I get a little made fun of by my husband! 🙂 It’s just my “go to” comfort food! So this weekend we were invited to a cookout and I decided to make my homemade guacamole. I have learned from my mom, and have adapted a few other ingredients to it. My husband even enjoys it! I know there are a lot of guacamole recipes out there, but the great thing about mine is it’s simple & tasty. My husband stated that he’d rather have my guacamole then the store-bought kind (too many spices) Sometimes the old saying “less is more” relates to recipes as well. I know we’re in the season of Fall and this is more of a Summer Recipe, but in my books guacamole is good in every season!

So…I decided why not share it on my blog for my friends to enjoy! Below you will find the ingredients and steps on how to make “Easy Peasy Guacamole” (very clever, I know…haha)

*This recipe will serve about 6 people*

  • 8 ripe avocados
  • 2 limes
  • 1/2 cup of cilantro chopped
  • 3-4 vine tomatoes
  • 1/2 TABLEspoon of salt
  •  1/2 TEAspoon of garlic powder
  • a big bowl and wooden spoon to mash (or any other kitchen utensil that’s great at mashing)
  • save all the avocado pits (I’ll fill you in on a secret on how to use them)
  • plus your favorite music blasting in the background! (I’m a country music gal, so I have “Kill A Word” by Eric Church currently playing)

  1. chop your tomatoes and cilantro first (that way the avocados don’t start to go brown)
  2. cut open your avocados and squeeze it into the bowl and mash them until it’s not too chunky  (make sure to save your pits!)
  3. cut your lime and squeeze the lime juice into the bowl
  4. stir everything together
  5. pour your salt and garlic powder in the bowl and stir very well
  6. finally take all your avocado pits and mix them in, here’s the secret to that: it helps to prevent the guacamole from going brown quickly
  7. Make sure to taste test, sometimes it may require a little more salt

  • crackers
  • with veggies (cucumbers, carrots, ect…)

There are endless possibilities!

I have started to learn that recipes don’t always have to be very complicated. I’m enjoying loosening up and being creative with my style. It’s truly a learning process, and I have finally found how to enjoy it and put some fun into it!
